Black cat owners know that their life has been besmirched with the likes of a smudgey, dark void of a feline. Because their cats are considered "bad luck," that must mean they find excellent fortunes elsewhere. It's the law of cat-o-dynamics. What felines taketh away, they giveth back in spades.
Despite their bad reputation for misfortune, black cats are much like other felines. Equally goofy, quirky, intelligent, independent, and majestic, black cats are really much like their orange, tabby, or mainecoon varietals; they're just harder to photograph in low light. Continually smudged at the edges and unfocused like puffs of smoke with eyeballs, black cats become inherently more funny to us simple-minded humans as they blur out and bug out in our favorite photos.
Like Toothless the dragon, a cute hanging bat, or a wriggly river otter, black cats are the shapeshifters of the feline world, melting to the shape of the hoomans who love them more than they love the spooky season. So if you wear a lot of black clothes and don't want to worry about plucking hairs off of your closet, black cats are the purrfect companion. Remember, they are the least likely pet at the shelter to be adopted because of ill-fated superstitions, so go out and get a black cat for yourself to test out the lucky duck theory. I promise, you'll be pleasantly surprised when your entire life becomes a whole lot better.
There's no sight more dramatic than a cat waiting to be fed. You'd think they hadn't eaten in years, judging by the Oscar-worthy performances they put on. The second you even look toward the kitchen, they appear out of nowhere, meowing like they're auditioning for a tragic musical titled The Empty Bowl.
Some tap their paws impatiently, others flop over like fainting Victorian ladies, and a few resort to staring straight into your soul until you break. Every movement you make is analyzed. Open a bag of chips instead of their food? Betrayal. Pour yourself cereal first? Unforgivable.
Then, when you finally serve their meal, the drama instantly ends. They purr, eat three bites, and stroll off like nothing happened. Sometimes they even come back to judge how well you did.
Cats waiting for food are proof that mealtime isn't just about eating. It's a full production. There's suspense, performance, and a touch of emotional manipulation. But honestly, with faces that cute, we'd happily fall for it every single time.
Ah-choo! Gazuntite, I guess I have a nasty case of…the giggles! Yes, it's a deadly disease that's sweeping the country. It starts with a chuckle here and there, but before you know it, you're laughing hysterically to the point where you can't get a word out while you're telling a story. People start to stare at you on the street, your friends don't even recognize you anymore. You go to the doctor and they tell you there's nothing they can do…a diagnosis that will last so long. All of the giggle and ab pain from scrolling cat memes.
Cat memes are irresistibly, addictively funny. When I'm in a bad moon, there's nothing I love more than taking my phone out and looking at these little fur balls. It's almost better than playing with my actual cat (just kidding, nothing is better than that). But seriously, there's something about cat memes that feels like medicine for the modern soul. Whether you're battling the midweek blues, over-caffeinated from too many lattes, or just need to feel something other than existential dread, a healthy dose of cat memes is the digital cure-all you didn't know you needed.
Pets are sometimes are best friends and biggest allies. While people in our lives can give us great love, they can also give us great pain. A dog will never lie to you, a cat will never break your heart. The story here is about a cat putting a wedge between a married couple. How could someone choose a feline over her husband, you may ask. But all's fair in love and…love. So in this story, the protagonist says she's had her cat, Scribbles, for over 10 years. Scribbles has been through it all with her, and their love and connection goes deep. Scribbles, like many cats, has a bit of a scratching problem. My cat has the same, but I figure I will let him just scratch and not buy expensive furniture for now.
The problem is that her husband did buy very expensive furniture. He bought an expensive video game chair, and lo and behold, Scribbles scratches the chair. He decides to take matters into his own hands without speaking to her first, so read the full story below to understand why he did what he did, and what his wife did about it.
Meow, meow it is Furiday and that means the weekend and Caturday are just around the corner. And while that sweet free time is singing its song making us all feel that little bit more excited for its coming, the work week that has passed so far is also weighing down upon us. Which is what makes those moments of boredom so unbearable at this point in the week, because we are already so burnt out. So we took a moment to confer with the cat council, and the decision was made that you hoomans deserve a collection of funny feline photos to help battle your boardroom induced boredom.
So put your feet up, grab a nice cup of tea, and settle into this silly and sweet feline treat, and watch your boredom blow away. And if you want even more catto comedy, then check out these silly cat children.
Senior cattos can only really be of two sorts, extra salty or extra sweet. Because after a feline lifetime's worth of living, the only thing our cute cat children become is more extreme in their world views. Meaning that if they were treated well and loved by their pawrents as they so deserved, they will usually end up cuddly and comforting. While, if they we not treated so nicely, or they simply grew up despising the world around them, then they would be very likely to turn into grouchy grump machines who cannot even bare to look a stupid hooman in the eyes.
Thankfully, our rescued buddy in this story is of the former kind of catto, and his rescuers turned out to be some of the most thoughtful that we have come across in a long time. Deciding to give their elder feline the home he deserved rather than keeping him with them for his sweet and cuddly nature.
What a glorious meowrning, feline fam. We're happy to see you back here again, and if this is your furst time, welcome! Lolcats was one of the main meowvements that was a part of the birth of cat memes. They flooded the internet with pictures of cats with their iconically silly speech, and thus, cats began to take over our hearts and websites. Not many remember this time (for sure you do if you are a millenial or older), but the reason you get so many feline funnies on your feed today is because of those early Lolcats.
We here at I Can Has Cheezburger try to keep them alive by featuring some homemade cat memes from our users. Their "Lols" are a part of our DNA, and we plan to give them the spotlight they deserve as long as they keep making them. Scroll down to see some of the best of the week, and if you want, you can make your own to be featured next week as well!

Baking Me Crazy by Karla Sorensen is $2.49 at Amazon! This is book one in the Love at First Sight series and it features a friends to lovers romance. Have you read this one?
I’m Levi Buchanan, and until five years ago, I thought the legend of my family’s curse was a load of crazy, Southern nonsense.
No curse can make you fall in love at first sight. No curse can force a true, deep, passionate, all-consuming love that will haunt you all the days of your life.
Then I met Jocelyn Abernathy and I realized how completely wrong I was.
The problem is, Jocelyn guards her feelings like well-armed soldier. She’s the most beautiful, stubborn, infuriating woman I’ve ever met. Every time she talks, I want to kiss the living daylights out of her. But I can’t.
Because when we met, she didn’t need true love. She needed a best friend. And that’s what I’ve been to her… for five years.
But when Jocelyn meets a handsome stranger her first day working at Donner Bakery and she lets him buy her a dill pickle cupcake, I realize with ominous regret that I may have missed my window with my best friend.
If I can’t get her to see past our friendship, my new curse may be to watch the love of my life move on with someone else.
Wake Up, Nat & Darcy by Kate Cochrane is 99c! This is a f/f romance and came out last November. Shana picked this one for Hide Your Wallet.
Ex-lovers. Ex-rivals. New cohosts. Oh, puck.
Cut from the US women’s hockey team right before her third chance at gold, Natalie Carpenter is scrambling for a plan that’ll help her avoid moving back home. The answer: a guest-hosting gig on Wake Up, USA’s winter games coverage. Her cohost: Darcy LaCroix, Nat’s ex-girlfriend, one-time college teammate turned adversary.
Since leaving Team Canada, Darcy has worked hard to make a name in broadcasting. If her big break requires sharing screen time with the former cocky freshman who turned her world upside down, so be it. At this point, there’s nothing between them except history.
But audiences disagree. #PuckingHotties is trending hard, and Nat and Darcy agree to lean into it—for ratings, obviously. It’s not like Nat can forget the way Darcy broke her heart or their bitter team rivalry.
Between working, traveling together and that irresistible spark, it’s getting hard to separate what’s real and what’s for the camera. Because somewhere underneath everything that went wrong is the sneaking suspicion that nothing will ever feel quite this right again.
All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and C.L. Herman is $2.99! This was mentioned in a previous Get Rec’d. Foody and Herman make a great writing duo and I believe they have a new or upcoming fantasy romance release.
After the publication of a salacious tell-all book, the remote city of Ilvernath is thrust into worldwide spotlight. Tourists, protesters, and reporters flock to its spellshops and ruins to witness an ancient curse unfold: every generation, seven families name a champion among them to compete in a tournament to the death. The winner awards their family exclusive control over the city’s high magick supply, the most powerful resource in the world.
In the past, the villainous Lowes have won nearly every tournament, and their champion is prepared to continue his family’s reign. But this year, thanks to the influence of their newfound notoriety, each of the champions has a means to win. Or better yet–a chance to rewrite their story.
One thing that we wish we could learn from cats is their ability to face literally any challenge. It doesn't matter what it is - whether it's an animal in their backyard that they have to stand up to or our laptops sitting in our cat's spot on our lap that they have to topple, they will face it. Even the biggest challenges, like being born different than other cats, doesn't stop them from living their lives to the fullest. Blind cats will go through life not knowing and not caring that they can't see, they will still cause chaos. Deaf cats will scream their little heads off to get attention without giving a heck about how loud they have to be. Cats born with three legs will still have top-speed zoomies in the middle of the night.
And if they need help, our cats will make sure that they get it, no matter what they have to do. Like this cat. She needed help, so she screamed until she got it. It's that or maybe she just likes the attention, and this is her way of getting it. Either way, it works.
Going to work, for most people, is often a boring endeavor. Even if you like your job, some days are simply too similar to others, and time seems to crawl by. That was not the case for the person in this story. She came into work as if it was any other day, ready for the boredom and simplicity of it all, only to have her life change entirely. Because in the middle of her workday, on the security cameras, she and another co-worker saw someone throwing kittens into the trash.
What would you do if you saw something like this? We would probably do the same thing that she did, and go rescue those kittens, because this is something that we cannot stand for. There are so many better options than throwing a kitten away, so many other directions that you can take than leaving them defenseless and on their own in a world where they are so, so tiny. And then, we would go to the police with the footage, because justice has to be done.
The Cat Distribution System might know which human to bestow a kitten in need upon, but it seems like the system might not account for where they're placing the cats…
If you live in an apartment building, especially in a cityscape, you have probably heard a critter or two inside your walls. It's honestly inevitable. Pests know just where to go to keep warm once the weather starts getting chilly, and will stay put if they realize you leave your loaf of bread out on the counter overnight. Can you truly blame them? Heck, I'd do the same thing!
We're not talking about a creepy critter in the story below, however. A human heard noise coming from the walls in their apartment and had professionals come in to investigate what the noise might be. Lo and behold, a kitten around only four weeks old was stuck in the wall!
The photo of the kitten caught red-pawed is pawssibly one of the cutest kitten pics I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them. They managed to coax the kitty out with some wet food, then he was taken to the vet so he could be taken care of by the cat doctors. One minute, you're confused and stuck in a wall, and the next, you have multiple humans peering at you like you're a winning lottery ticket. This kitten hit the jackpot.
We’re going back to May 2016 to look at the Ads & Features in Romantic Times magazine. The kilts are kilting and the abs are ab-ing, and we’ve got some questions.
How do we feel about the terms “book boyfriend” and “pre-con”?
How much of the 2016 conference depended on Twitter to announce pop up signings and special limited time events?
And do you remember how important Twitter was to a conference?
How many different ways are there to photograph a very muscled shirtless man? I think we’re going to see all of them.
So hop into the time machine, we’ve got the snacks, and we’re off to May 2016.
Patreon folks, you have an extended cut of this episode, available through the app or through your private feed.
We were particularly charmed by Michael Foster, bottom right, who is wearing a big black puffy blouse unbuttoned but still tucked in (YEAH), and holding a big sword while standing in front of a major wind machine. Also, Vikkas Bhardwaj’s picture looks like his head was added afterward and it’s uncanny.
She’s ripping his clothes off! That’s pretty cool.
This is the centerfold image, or part of it. We spent a lot of time with this image: the hat. The jeans. The striped socks (is this Anita Blake!?). The giant rifle with scope and the even more giant bullets around her waist. Look, she’s even got a flask in her back pocket for when she’s done.

One minute, you think you're taking a nice evening walk in the early days of autumn alone, and the next, you're bringing a foliage-colored feline home with you! It looks like Christmas came early for the cat lovers in the story you'll be reading below.
In October, the ground is painted with crunchy leaves that possess golden hues of yellows, oranges, and reds. These leaves already cover a large portion of the ground we walk on and are tricky to maneuver as is, but in the dark, you never know what may lie beneath the leaves' surface. A cute creature; a kitten, perhaps?
The human who found the cute calico kitten featured in the next story nearly stepped on her until she realized that her eyes deceived her: A furry feline was cozied up in a pile of leaves! Like clockwork, the human brings this kitty home and introduces her to the other human in the house, her father. Now, the rescued calico, who is now named "Tori", has three new feline friends and two humans to call her family. Scroll below to read the full story about Tori and then, to the end, to watch an adorable video of her kneading, scratching, and following her new human around.
There's nothing quite as heart-melting as newborn kittens, also known as mewborns. Tiny, squeaky, and softer than a dream, these little bundles of fluff seem to be made of pure happiness. With eyes still closed and legs that wobble like jelly, they spend their first days learning how to crawl, cuddle, and call out for mom. Every mew is a melody, every stretch a masterpiece of cuteness that could melt anyone's heart.
Each mewborn is a tiny wonder of life. Their miniature noses twitch at the faintest scent, their soft whiskers tremble, and their little toe beans look like they were dipped in pastel paint. They sleep in sweet piles of fur, purring quietly as they dream their first tiny kitten dreams. Even their clumsy attempts to find their mom or snuggle a sibling are enough to make anyone smile.
Before long, these tiny mewborns will grow into curious little explorers with big personalities and even bigger purrs. For now, though, life is all about warmth, naps, and staying close to mom. Sometimes happiness really is just a handful of purrs and tiny paws.
Sometimes love blooms in the most unexpected places… like a botanical garden. This kind soul met a stray cat among the flowers, and what started as a casual meowment quickly turned into a heartfelt mission. The abandoned cat, once left behind by her previous owner, had been surviving on her own, but this hooman couldn't just leaf her there. Soon came daily visits, gentle care, and plates of wet food served with love.
Armed with leftover wood, straw, and plenty of compassion, they built a cozy shelter in the garden to keep her safe and warm through the winter. Even the caretakers approved, touched by the effort to give the little wanderer a place to call home.
Now, with a carrier waiting by the door and soft blankets ready, this rescuer isn't just helping a stray. They're preparing for a furever friendship. Sometimes fate picks the purrfect place for two souls to meet, and this garden story might just blossom into a lifelong love, one gentle paw at a time.
